Deploy RDS Hosted Application in VMware Horizon 6

After setting up Setup RDS Host farm, you can now deploy RDS Hosted application in VMware Horizon 6. The ability to deploy RDS hosted applications or desktops are available in Advanced and Enterprise editions of VMware Horizon 6. Note that you need to install Remote Desktop Session Host role service of RDS role in RDS server.

The diagram below shows the scenario we have been working on. RD Session Host role is already installed in RDS server.

VMware View

Log on to View Administrator. Expand Catalog and select Application Pools. Click Add.

Now, select the applications to be presented to users. Here I will select Calculator and Paint which are pre installed applications. Click Next.

Edit application name if you want to. I will leave the defaults. Check to entitle users after this wizard finishes. Click Next.

Edit Display Name

Click Finish. Entitlement wizard pops up. Click Add.

Browse user from the Active Directory. Here I have added user Bob. You can also add groups. Click OK.

You can view the published application by going to Catalog > Application Pools as shown below.

Now go to client machine. Open Horizon View Client application. Add Connection Server.

Login with Bob user account.

You can see the apps.

Double-click a app to lunch.
